Meiji Yan Yan Chocolate

Before I describe the delicious flavor of Yan Yan Chocolate to you, let me provide you with an unforgettable scene.

You are skipping around in Candy Land, frolicking in Lollipop Field and admiring Soda Lake. To your left, there are Jolly Ranchers harvesting their crops of fruit flavors.  To your right, there is Lucas the Duck happily sipping his very salty margarita and just ahead of you, you see Now and Later passionately arguing with each other about when they should go to Hershey’s Chocolate party. Admidst all this wonderful, delicious candy,  you are forbidden to eat any of it. Candy Land is not for eating. It is to be nurtured and taken care of by you, the Guardian of Candy Land. Forbidden from eating any candy in Candy Land, you stick to your solemn code and honor as protector of this candy utopia.

As you happily skip through Lollipop Field, you reach a clearing of  sweet, sweet chocolate. In pure amazement, you gaze across the ocean of chocolate, astonished at the sublime sight, only to be interrupted by a frightening and terrible scream of desperation. Frantically, you look to your left and right, locating the origin of the desperate cry. It is a Yan Yan Biscuit Stick that has fallen into the sinking ocean of chocolate. Mind you, chocolate does not have the consistency of water and the poor Yan Yan cannot float in it but merely slowly sink into the delicious chocolate depths, much like quicksand does to poor old dinosaurs. As the Guardian of Candy Land, you must protect its inhabitants from harm. Using your quick thinking, you rush to help the unfortunate Yan Yan. You reach out your hand and yell, “GRAB ON!” The Yan Yan, in a struggle to pull itself from the deadly yet delicious chocolate, gives you a chocolately hand. You struggle and strain to pull him out. With each tug, you feel the strain in your muscles. You are tiring. The poor Yan Yan is stuck in the chocolate pretty deep. Almost out of strength, you close your eyes and with all your strength and willpower, you give its arm one last, final pull. You feel a lack of tension in your arms and some relief sets upon you. You think to yourself, “I pulled him out. I did it. I pulled him out.”

A shrill scream shatters your false sense of relief and joy. You open your eyes, only to see a crumbling but chocolately Yan Yan arm in your hands and a screaming, sinking Yan Yan in its now chocolately grave. You cannot save it. It is too late for that. The unfortunate Yan Yan is doomed. You weep for its misfortune as the last of the Yan Yan is enveloped and consumed by the chocolate ocean. Hands on your face, you mourn, weeping and crying. The chocolately crumbs mix with your tears and smear across your face. As you cry in awful regret and sorrow with your hands in the air, asking, “WHY! WHY! WHY!” a large chocolately piece of the Yan Yan’s arm drops into your mouth from your flailing hands. It is delicious. As you lick your lips, you are struck with an irresistible urge to eat every piece of candy in Candy Land. You have tasted the forbidden fruit. The candy you have sworn to protect, sworn not to eat. You have tasted it and it was good. You have had enough of being Candy Land’s solemn protector. No more! You will be the destroyer of Candy Land. The devourer of the candy world. You shall eat everything in sight. You are the CANDY MAN!

Inside Yan Yan Chocolate

As you might not know, Yan Yan Chocolate comes in a cylindrical package and is full of stick shaped biscuit crackers (9 in all) and chocolate dip. The concept is that you dip the crackers into the chocolate dip and enjoy. Even though, the concept is very simple, the outcome is outstanding flavor without much hassle. Yan Yan comes in a variety of flavors such as yogurt, strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. Yan Yan even has flavored biscuit crackers for added flavor once you dunk them into your favorite dip. I personally can enjoy Yan Yan Chocolate all day long and I hope once you try them, you will enjoy them just as much as I do.

Rating: 4 STARS (“GOTTA HAVE IT!”)
